Don’t waver.

You encounter situations that require your skills in emergency response all the time; still, disaster presents differently. When disaster happens, you’re on the front lines. But traditional medical training—at all levels—hasn’t prepared you (or any of us) for this crucial area.

There’s one more step for you to be truly prepared to respond with confidence—

BECOME CERTIFIED IN DISASTER RESPONSE.

People will look to you in the face of disaster.

Join a movement.

The International Board of Disaster Medicine (IBODM) is the first organization to offer disaster medicine certification to pre-hospital professionals—worldwide.

We train and certify pre-hospital professionals, physicians, and nurses, to apply the skills you already have to disasters. Upon your certification, you’ll join a worldwide community of helpers who are trained and ready with a cohesive response when the unexpected happens.

STEP 1

Evaluate your
current readiness.

If you’ve not already had disaster medicine training (Masters or PhD in Disaster Medicine, advanced educational programs in Disaster Medicine, etc.), we’ll evaluate your experience and advise if educational requirements remain.

STEP 2

Get training in
the areas you need.

Our online school, the Disaster Medicine Institute, offers a series of trainings to help you apply your expertise as a pre-hospital professional to disasters.

STEP 3

Pass an exam and
get credentialed.

Credentials are about far more than a patch on your jacket. They mean that you’re part of the movement that’s professionalizing disaster medicine.

HELP TO THE VERY BEST OF YOUR ABILITY.

Preparedness

Fortify yourself and your community for crisis situations that can’t be mitigated.

Response

Know exactly how to lead people through the immediate aftermath of a disaster.

Recovery

Learn how to support restoration efforts following a crisis.

BE A STABILIZING FORCE.

You might still be wondering…

What are the eligibility requirements that must be met for a person to take the exam without doing the education?

If you’ve not already had disaster medicine training (Masters or PhD in Disaster Medicine, advanced educational programs in Disaster Medicine, etc.), we’ll evaluate your experience and advise if educational requirements remain.
